TeCSBi SPOTLIGHT on PhD students

Comment by Alex Pessina (Brambilla’s Lab)

Here we are with a new Spring Meeting appointment! On Wednesday, April 13th, the candidates will speak about health and medical treatments. They will provide us with in-depth information about different cancer types guiding us towards cancer biological processes and new treatment approaches to improve the effectiveness of therapeutic agents.

From the first year, we’ll welcome Marina Meroni  and Serena Petrella. Marina, with her presentation entitled “Induction of adipocytic differentiation in liposarcomas: a new approach to improve the effectiveness of the available therapies against these rare neoplastic forms”, will provide comprehensive information about how different combined therapy could be effective in Liposarcoma treatment. Serena Petrella with “Identification of new therapeutic strategies for mucinous ovarian carcinoma” will convey the current role of CRISPR/Cas9 in new target discovery.

From the second year, Giulia Dellavedova and Laura Formenti with their presentation entitled, respectively ”Validation strategy for ovarian cancer mutations and biological implications” and “Unravelling the interplay between HR status and OXPHOS: gene silencing and DNA damage evaluation”, will show some results and techniques regarding the study and fight of ovarian cancer, the most fatal cancer of female reproductive system, helping us understand how molecular mechanisms and mutations could contribute to cancer treatments.

Jennifer Fernandez Alarcon e Greta Bianchi will chair the meeting, guiding us and enriching the discussion.

The meeting will take place on Wednesday, April 13th, in room U1-08 at 14.30.

Good luck to everyone! We hope to see you during these meetings!
