Seminar - Biotechnology and Biosciences - Thursday, October 9, 2025, 4:30 PM, BIOS-U3 building, room U3-10
Fabio Gasparri, Biology Lead, Nerviano Medical Sciences
Abstract

Oncology drug discovery remains a lengthy and inefficient process, characterized by high attrition rates and escalating development costs. Continuous innovation is therefore essential to improve productivity and increase the probability of clinical success. This presentation outlines the main stages of the oncology drug discovery process, highlighting the methodological and technological advances that have recently contributed to improving efficiency, including the application of artificial intelligence or new compound screening methodologies. The discovery and development of entrectinib, the only FDA-approved targeted cancer therapeutic invented in Italy, will be presented as a case study.
