Seminar - Biotechnology and Biosciences - Thursday, October 30, 2025, 4:30 PM, ATLAS-U1 building, room U1-06

Abstract
Biocatalysis offers a powerful and sustainable route to chemical synthesis, potentially combining selectivity with a low environmental footprint. Realising its full industrial potential relies on two key advances: 1) process intensification using continuous-flow systems, enzyme immobilisation, and integrated reactors to boost efficiency and scalability 2) biocatalytic expansion, which extends enzyme reactivity through protein and metabolic engineering. Together, these approaches are transforming biocatalysis into a mature industrial technology, paving the way for greener, smarter chemical manufacturing. This lecture will illustrate these concepts with examples from both the literature and our own work.
Host: Simone Guglielmetti
The seminar is OPEN to all.
ONLINE REGISTRATION for the seminar is a mandatory requirement for those who wish to request the CERTIFICATE OF ATTENDANCE, which, together with the signature on the ATTENDANCE SHEET, will confirm actual participation.
