How much do we know about the potential role of the microorganisms that live around us but especially inside of us? Several microorganisms produce precious secondary metabolites such as biosurfactants with antimicrobial activity that modulate and protect the equilibrium of the body microbiota, acting also on quorum sensing systems. If you want to understand more on this issue, the high impact journal Frontiers in Microbiology recently published a review article of our PhD student Alessanda De Giani (#DiGennaroLab_BtBs) entitled “Recent Trends on Biosurfactants With Antimicrobial Activity Produced by Bacteria Associated with Human Health: Different Perspectives on Their Properties, Challenges, and Potential Applications”.
